Hospital finds safety in numbers with System 15
When a roof at Central Manchester Children’s Hospital began to suffer water ingress, a fast-acting repair system was needed. With speed and convenience crucial, the hospital turned to System 15, the fast application and long term waterproofing solution from Acrypol.
The 50m2 asphalt roof on The Lodge – home of the hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust Charity – had not been maintained for a number of years and had fallen into a state of disrepair. With copings and lead flashings failing, the hospital needed a quick solution that would stand the test of time
Chosen for its long term performance and fifteen year guarantee, System 15 was applied over the existing asphalt rooftop to deliver a seamless, fast acting solution at a fraction of the time and cost of alternative refurbishment and replacement systems.
Cold applied, System 15 was installed efficiently, without the use of naked flame or molten materials at roof level – guaranteeing excellent value for money– vital for the stringent budgeting of the healthcare sector. As occupants remained in the building during the application, it was crucial that work was carried out quickly and with minimal disruption. Again, System 15 proved ideal, with a simple application that made the required Health and Safety COSHH Assessments as straightforward as possible.
Although the project was completed during the summer months, System 15 can be applied all year round and even in damp conditions, allowing even the most challenging projects to be delivered on time and on budget.
Completed in less than two weeks, including the erection and dismantling of all access scaffolding, the System 15 application has provided a safe, reliable waterproofing solution that will protect the building’s occupants for many years to come.
