Royal Air Force

Client: Royal Air Force
Project: St Athan Base Refurbishment
Product: Acrypol +

Royal Air Force St Athan, in the Vale of Glamorgan, is home to a number of MoD organisations. Specifiers, responsible for essential roof repairs on the site, demanded absolute proven waterproofing integrity – but also needed to achieve best value and fast, immediate protection; Acrypol +, from solutions specialist Acrypol Products, was the answer.

The St Athan base carries out maintenance and modifications on military aircraft and trains technicians in maintenance and repair of ground support equipment, roles that are vital in the UK’s defence structure. Property/Works Services site management is delegated by the RAF to Atkins Defence Asset Management who oversee the site’s busy day-to-day building maintenance requirements.

When the original bituminous roof above the Officers’ Mess and Sergeants’ Mess showed signs of failure, action had to be taken immediately to stop any risk of water leaking into the buildings. Acrypol + has a long and respected history of being chosen by Local Authority and Public Sectors specifiers. It allows extremely fast application, with immediate waterproofing protection, even in damp or unpredictable weather.
