Local Councils have a duty of care to provide safe, slip free surfaces - if this is breached, and an accident occurs, the financial consequences can be crippling. Help is at hand, however, says solutions specialist Acrypol Products, manufacturers of a highly cost effective, tried and trusted slip resistant coating – Quartzdek.

Watford Borough Council, like many other Local Authorities, is highly aware that by not ensuring a slip resistant surface is present at entrances, exits or within public amenity facilities, injury claims could run into millions of pounds, so positive action had to be taken.

By installing 1300 Sqm of Quartzdek to potentially dangerous pedestrianised stairways within four busy car parks, Watford Borough Council has dramatically improved the safety of its residents – by preventing slips before they happen. In addition, the product has achieved a high degree of improved aesthetic appearance, whilst also waterproofing and protecting the surface deck at the same time.

Interior stairs at the Charter Place, Gade, Sutton Road and Church Street low rise, multi storey car parks were coated with Quartzdek in light grey. The edges of the steps were coated in Quartzdek in yellow
for added visibility during low light levels.
